How To Apply

Grant proposals must be submitted via e-mail to Ms. Caren Sawyer at csawyer@esdf.org.

To be qualified, all NONPROFIT organizations must submit the following materials:

  1. A copy of the Internal Revenue Service letter of exemption from federal income tax notice and/or letter including the employer identification number (EIN);
  2. A copy of the latest Form 990 tax return of the organization filed with the Internal Revenue Service;
  3. A copy of the most recent audited annual financial statements of the organization or financials prepared by your CPA;
  4. A directory of the organization staff, officers, and board of directors;
  5. A listing of the key sources of revenue for the organization or individual showing contributors and amounts received during the last three years.
  6. A letter certifying that the organization will not use the ESDF grant to fund, in whole or in part, any program, project or activity that promotes or encourages opposition to any forms of regulated hunting of wildlife (by guns or bows), or the practice of shooting arrows for target archery or bowhunting.
  7. For government entities (including public schools) only items #1 and #6 are required.
  8. For grants that are over $25,000 please also include a list of anticipated donors and a project budget.
In general, FOR-PROFIT AND PRIVATE SECTOR APPLICANTS are not eligible for a grant, even though they are doing work that meets the Foundation's objectives. Any for-profit organization may still submit a grant request for consideration, and if it meets the Foundation Goals, ESDF may direct your grant request to another organization.

Supplemental information or material examples (i.e., pamphlets, booklets, fliers, etc.) provided in addition to the proposal that help the Committee evaluate the applicant's organization or proposal will be accepted. All key information for consideration should be presented in the proposal narrative.

If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Idida Briones at (818) 787-2800 x202 or via email at ibriones@esdf.org. The supporting applicant qualification materials and documents should be mailed to the following address:
