The Easton Foundations support the development of four levels of archery facilities depending on the level of the planned archery programs and the financial commitment of the applicants:
1. Archery Center of Excellence,
2. Archery Center,
3. Community Archery Facility, or
4. Local Club or Recreation Department Facility.
The ‘selection criteria’ helps us rank the various proposals and grant requests and determine the Foundation level of funding. The details of our selection and ranking priorities remain confidential, so applicants don’t try to modify their applications to merely meet more of our approval criteria.
When the Foundation receives an inquiry from parties interested in developing an archery facility and submitting a grant request to the Foundation, we provide the following general information:
We plan to fund facilities at diversified geographic regional locations to create a strong national archery education and training program
Our goal is to develop a large national pool of top archers from which to select future Olympic and World Championship teams
We look for a strong local 501(c)3 organization, university, school, state, or local government as a development and operating partner at each facility (we also expect them to have a proven record of financial stability)
We expect strong community support (City, County, State & Department of Fish & Wildlife), financial commitments, and in-kind and/or financial contributions to the project
Archery Center facilities must have year round training capabilities that supports all styles of archery with a focus on Olympic-style archery (this requires some type of indoor or indoor/outdoor facility in most locations)
We expect to see an existing base of local archery activities near a major population center (with several universities within one hour drive) with the potential to expand youth, interscholastic, and collegiate archery participation
The Foundation only provides partial funding for most projects and requires use of city or state property and/or buildings.
We ask that all grant requests explain how they will address these issues and meet the Easton Foundation objectives detailed on the grant request form.
The Foundation does not fix the percentage we provide toward project costs, but the range of our contribution has been 10-50% of project cost. The Foundation grant will vary depending on the capabilities of the proposed facility, quality of the planned high performance archery programs, and the local support all focused to achieve the Foundation goal of developing Olympic-style archery. We recognize the value in-kind donations of land and other services in the overall project evaluation, but do not consider this value as part of the project cost. We would like to see solid evidence of wide community support of all projects the Foundations fund.
