Program Schedule

OAS Program Schedule

The OAS Program Schedule is full of many different types of events so that students can get a rich archery experience.  Schools are not required to follow this schedule, but will get the most out of the OAS Program if they do.  For a PDF of the download here:  OAS Program Schedule. Also check out our OAS Calendar for exact dates and more details.

Fall Semester

The focus of the fall semester is to teach students about Olympic Style Archery.  New students will learn the basics of the sport and returning archers will be able to review and progress in their skills.

Archery Class: Schools can use our OAS Curriculum when teaching their archery class.  This class can take on different forms depending on the school.  Some may start an after school program while others include it as a unit in PE.  Schools are welcome to hold these classes during the spring semester as well.  Just note that competitions are held during that period.

OAS Mail-in Tournament: During the fall semester, we have our annual OAS Mail-in Tournament.  This gives students an opportunity to compete with other archers from all across the nation.  The Mail-in Tournament is a fun way to finish your archery class/unit, so scores are accepted throughout the fall semester (starting at the beginning of August and finishing on November 30th; a request can be made for late submissions).  This way you can have your class anytime during the fall semester or have several sessions as well.  Each student may submit only one score each though for the tournament.  Once all of the scores are collected, awards will be sent out to the top 10 in each division (boys/girls, Middle/High School).

College Archery Fairs: Colleges in the USCA Program (United States Collegiate Archery) will be hosting College Archery Fairs to raise awareness of college archery programs and to connect youth with their local universities.  The fair will start with a fun tournament to give OAS students a chance to shoot and interact with college archers.  Afterwards the colleges may give campus tours or other activities to introduce the youth to college life.

Through the OAS Program we want to raise awareness of the opportunities that students have through archery.  One such opportunity is to continue archery in college.  Through USCA many universities across the nation have archery programs.  College archery is a wonderful way to connect with friends, continuing practicing the sport you love, and compete both locally and internationally.  Scholarship opportunities are also available through the program.

Spring Semester

The spring semester is the competition season.

Archery League: Schools are encouraged to sign-up for our OAS Archery League.  Schools will be put into a conference with 3 other schools.  During the season (February to April) they will have one home and one away match with each of the other schools (schools are responsible for scheduling their own matches).  The format for these matches can be found on our website in the Archery League section.  It is designed to focus on individual and team round matches which are exciting for both the archers and spectators.

League Finals: The archery league finishes the season with League Finals.  For each conference, one of the schools will host the finals.  Schools that win the League Finals will earn a spot in the school team competition at the State Championships.

State Championships: A school will host State Championships after all of the League Finals are complete.  This tournament is three days.  The first day is official practice.  Then on Saturday, competition will start with a ranking round, team round, and Olympic round.  All OAS students are welcome to compete on this day.  The last day is the school team competition (uses the League Finals format).  The winners of all of the League Finals will compete to determine a State Champion.

Summer

Summer will include training camps and other workshop type events.

Summer Training Camp: A summer training camp will be held to give both archers and coaches an opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills.  Various seminars will be given on shooting technique, sports psychology, equipment, competition, coaching, etc.

Other events: Workshops and seminars will also be held during the summer.

Other Events

Throughout the year OAS will have trainings, online seminars, JOAD events, and other opportunities available.

Seminars: Seminars will be held both in person and online.  Topics will vary and can be suggested through our online request form.  Interviews will also be held online.

Trainings: Trainings are held once a month and can also be requested.  Also see our online education program for more learning modules.

JOAD: JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) has many events throughout the year like their mail-in tournament, JOAD camps, and competitions.  Announcements will be made for these.
