Easton Announces a One Million Dollar Donation to Support Archery

Salt Lake City, Utah, December 2006 ⎯ FITA’s International Archery Development Foundation (FIDTA, Fondation Internationale de Développement du Tir À L’Arc) received a one million dollar donation from Jas. D. Easton, Inc., (Easton) to support the development of archery around the globe. The gift will provide athletic scholarships, material support, coaching seminars and special programs; and also will allow young archers from countries with developing archery programs to take part in the Junior World Archery Championships. Easton has committed to donate an additional $500,000 in matching funds to FIDTA. Dr. Ugur Erdener, President of FITA said, “FITA would like to deeply thank Jim Easton for this exceptional gesture. This is another one of many in his long-time involvement in sports, which features the positions of: Mayor of the UCLA Athletes’ Village and the Commissioner of Archery at the 1984 Olympic Games, President of FITA from 1989 until 2005, IOC Member since 1994, and IOC Vice President from 2002 to 2006.”
