Major Publication Showcased Easton Foundations Support for High School Cycling

The Easton Foundations has been a significant supporter of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) since its inception in 2009. Founded in 2009 as a 501(c)3 non-profit, the NICA develops high school mountain biking programs for student-athletes and coaches across the United States. NICA provides leadership, services and governance for local leagues to produce quality mountain bike events, and supports every student-athlete in the development of strong body, strong mind and strong character through their efforts on the bike.

One key annual program encompassing all NICA leagues is the NICA Annual Awards.  This event recognizes and honors a small number of  individual student-athletes, coaches and individuals for their accomplishments each year.  Awards are named after key sponsors and supporters, including the Easton Foundations’ League Founders Award. This award recognizes an individual’s commitment, enthusiasm and perseverance in launching a new NICA league.  The recipient of the 2012 award was the Utah League Director, Lori Harward. Lori has worked tirelessly to over the past two years to launch a new league that provided coach education, skills camps and a four race series that served nearly 300 high school student-athletes in their first year.

To highlight the award recipients and generous sponsors and to bring attention to the growing high school cycling movement, NICA has launched a print-media campaign drawing on the various awards. The first full-page advertisement to hit magazines in the August/September 2013 issue of switchback magazine is the Easton Foundations’ League Founders Award.
